Nashaad's character is that of a poet and singer and, via his character, we weave music throughout the film. The music in the film is a reflection of the South Asian expatriate's life - whether film music or religious music - it is a tie to our homeland. The filmmakers spent a great deal of time choosing and working with some of the best musicians in the Hindi film industry. To pen Nashaad's poetry, we turned to Gulzar - the ultimate filmmaker-poet. Only he could give life and words to the "foremost poet and singer of India" as Nashaad is billed.
